2026 Pinterest Home Decor Trends vs What Really Sells Your Home

Pinterest is already exploding with
2026 home decor trends
but here’s the thing sometimes
those curated pins are not actually
gonna really help you get your house sold faster
in fact
some of those curated pins can make your home feel
a little too personal
maybe a little outdated and sometimes
maybe even make the rooms feel smaller
so I’m gonna share with you
some of these home decor trends
that you can find on Pinterest
Cut go through them
kind of share what you should and shouldn’t do
avoid some mistakes that’s
and show you exactly what helps
sell your home faster and for more money
hey there home sellers
welcome back my name is Kasha
and I’m an occupied home staging specialist
where I help home owners like yourselves
use your items that you have in your home to stage it

you can live in a staged home
I’ve done it many times over the years
as I’ve staged my own houses
so it can be done
so
let’s dive into these Pinterest 2026 home decor trends
that you may want to avoid
when it comes time to selling your house
because that’s what trends are
it’s a thing that doesn’t last very long
and you want your home to really stand out as a classic
yes okay
you’re probably thinking it’s boring traditional yes
but you don’t want to turn off buyers
you by doing something bold
that’s gonna turn off some buyers
and I don’t wanna do that for you
I wanna help you make your house be
appealing to the most amount of buyers
that you have in your home
that’s why I give you um
tips such as removing family photos
and removing the personalized decor
because that is reflects you and not other people
okay that’s why home staging is kind of a neutral
kind of background
so that people can imagine themselves
living in the house not be struck with
oh my gosh
I do not like that pink color
I’ve got to now think
about how much it’s gonna cost to take that down
okay
and which means a lower offer for you as a home seller
and you don’t want that
I want to get you the top dollar for your home
so that you can move into your next home
okay so that’s what we’re trying to do
is we’re trying to have the home sellers
imagine the house with how they can live in it
without giving you a lower offer
because there’s work that needs to be done
okay so
let’s get into some of these trends
that I found on Pinterest
and I’ll leave the link
that you can take a look at yourself
as well um
some of the um
basic words that people have been searching for
um I’ll leave that link in the show notes
so you can take a look
but I will share my screen with you here
so you can follow along with me
okay so
let’s start off with the Pinterest predicts
on the Fun House
this is actually one that is a big home trend
that people actually have looked at
now I’m gonna show you
kind of scroll down here a little bit
so circus inspired home decor
is supposed to be on the rise
so you’re thinking bold stripes
um anything clownish
which I don’t know about you
but sometimes clowns don’t scare me
but
I know there are some people that just don’t do clowns
they just don’t so I don’t know if this is a big
that’s a bit of a big thing
but it looks like that a lot of the um
search that has done on Pinterest um
is circus nursery or the circus interior
so maybe you’re looking for some circus art
so if we’re talking about stripes on the ceiling
which yes
that could be interesting and that can be lots of fun
but really that’s just getting a little uh
too bold too much um
I could do with some circus art
that’s fine if you have something
you know unique
maybe an elephant or a giraffe or something like that
maybe those are kind of tired
and people want something bold
well let me share this one tab of
just giving an example of
when I looked up just circus themed nursery
um this is what comes up
okay so hopefully you can see this
basically when I did this search
you can kind of see yes
with the crib you’ve got
you know a nice little um
umbrella type thing over it
um an elephant
maybe some wall art some
a mobile some
you know pillows and things like that
those are kind of fun some
maybe more brighter and bold colors
but this is just getting a little too
I don’t know a little too much
I’m definitely okay with you know
the uh
the kind of bedding that you may have in the crib
you know those kinds of things
but the pillows are perfectly fine
but you don’t wanna go too bold
let me share some other pictures that came up
when I did this kind of search
okay so this one’s just a little too bold
very cute but the wall striping is overboard
when it comes time to sell your house
so this is not something that I would recommend
having in your nursery
when you’re trying to sell your house
definitely take down a whole bunch of things here
while you’re at it
because there’s just too much going on in here
okay so this one’s definitely better
the walls are more neutral colored
um you could
I love this little playful little rug here
the pillows are great
this big tent thing I would probably take down
and these pendant flags over the top
definitely take down but the circus art is pretty cute
um so yes
so some of these things
this one’s a little bit easier to edit
and help you stage your nursery
if this is the theme that you’re going for
okay so the next um
trend that if you look on Pinterest Trends is called
I’m gonna go over is called Cool Blue
and basically that’s where we’re talking about um
just the blue aesthetic and as you can see
they kind of want to make a sophistication
type of thing with the Gen Z and millennials
now I know they’re not always naturally
the ones looking at the home
cause I know they’ve been um
not as big of an audience um
but this is kind of what they’re seeing and liking
and searching for
when it comes time to look at home decor
so I when I did a search on the blue
I did it in Pinterest um
I looked up a couple things
they had
like these nice blue lamps or blue flower petals
right a mantle
cause it’s January when we’re doing this right
um but you can use the blue as a nice
sophisticated kind of a color
with blue curtains or blue throw blankets
uh blue pillows
those are great uh
blue pendants I really love these
these are such a pretty
just a different color than plain
just plain clear glass
a blue is a great color to kind of calm down the
the nerves basically
it’s a distressing kind of a color
you think of water the calming kind of colors
blues and greens are really
actually a more of a calming kind of a color
um so
that may be something that you can think of
when it comes time to selling your house
right so if you have blue painted walls
maybe you have something like that in the bedroom
or maybe it’s in the living room
right there’s a lot of blue inspiration
even a light blue couch is perfectly fine um
with some white um
coffee table um
so yeah
there’s some great things that are blue
that you can use to help you sell your house
um here’s even one just
just different concept plates and things like that
pillows chairs
the wall color you know
pendant lights those types of thing
curtains um
even rugs okay
so those are just some examples
of how you can use blue to help you stage your house
so this one is my seal of approval
I highly recommend using blue
when it comes time to staging your house
okay so
another trend I wanna share with you
is something called Neo Deco
um so basically Art Deco
if you will it just seems kind of more Moody
maybe darker um
so they’re adding more shine and sleekness to 2026
and some of the searches that they’ve done on Pinterest
are things like pendant lamps
a red marble bathroom
which that intrigued me just a little bit
I’m like wait what
um so this may be something that you may take a look at
antique bar cart brass is coming back
and leather banquet so I did a couple searches on this
um so
I’m gonna share with you just a couple of things there
so I did a search on red marble
cause that intrigued me I’m thinking here
red marble in the bathroom
that’s kind of confusing to me
so this is a lot of red okay
on the walls is a tile
yeah courage
that’s a good word
but this is not something that you can put in
I would say a traditional home or a farmhouse home
okay um
this is more of a modern um
type of home where you’re gonna have
if you have something like this as a flooring
now again
this is not meant to help you sell your house faster
I’m not saying put red marble in your house
to help you sell this house
because this is a very unique um
type of you know
flooring that doesn’t always appeal to buyers
this one may be a little bit harder to sell on
maybe in a backsplash in this type of kitchen maybe
cause maybe you’re in the
you got the warm woods
and the copper colors and things like that
um now that I see this
where they got marble
penny tile in red in the bathroom
so
this may be something that I wouldn’t recommend doing
in order to help you sell your house faster there’s
it’s beautiful but it’s
it’s something that’s gonna
probably gonna turn off buyers
it’s a very personal kind of a um
color red
I don’t actually recommend using red on any walls
in your house anyway
when you’re selling it even in the dining room
if you have a red dining room and you’re looking around
going oh yeah
this will sell
uh
that’s kind of actually one of my two favorite colors
that I don’t recommend ever using in your house
when selling it um
is red is one of them and yellow um
like a buttercup yellow yellow um
they’re just more difficult um
to kind of sell buyers on
so that’s why I don’t recommend having those colors
so if you have a red dining room
I would recommend changing it
and painting it more of a neutral color
red is just very harsh
and also doesn’t show very well in pictures
it may not show as Moody or as maroon as you would like
cause sometimes lighting can really affect it
so um
when it comes to red marble
this one may be something I would recommend not doing
when it comes time to sell your house
so another trend that’s been going on Pinterest
that people have been searching for are lace
so I was kind of surprised about this one
cause I’m thinking doilies
and things like dresses and things like that
but one of the things that really got me was a
a lace doily I was kind of surprised
105% increase in searches on that
and I’m thinking here well
that’s kind of grandma vintage type
and I’m like oh
I’m not so sure but I did go and find an article
and did a search on what you can do with lace
and how I would recommend it
if I would even to use it
when it come times to staging your house
so let me share this one article
on some things that you can do
so one of them is
transforming the doily into an elegant table runner
and I’m like oh
well that’s really pretty
you can totally do that so on your dining room table
if you have one if you have a dining room
or even if you have an eat in kitchen
and you have some of these doilies
that maybe you’ve collected
vintage wise or need something like that
maybe you’ve got them from grandma um
maybe you picked it up at
you know flea markets and things
this is a really simple something easy and elegant
that can go on your dining room table
now I would pair it with something a little more modern
maybe like a a glass bowl
whole type thing like maybe a blue
so add the blue with the lace and that
you can totally pair those two things together
okay so if you can stitch the doily
together to do that
I’m not that kind of crafty to do that kind of stuff
but if you have something like this
this may be something that you can use
to help stage your home okay
another one was crafting uh
lace bowls from doilies and I was kind of like
oh wow
those are really pretty I could totally see that being
like a little catch all
whether it’s in the front entryway
maybe to have your change your keys
or something like that even on a coffee table
if you have that on a tray
um that would be perfectly fine um
that you can use and the hair
they actually tell you
use fabric stiffener in a bowl to use as a mold
and you let it you know
soak the doily let it kind of sit
drape it over the thing
and just kind of let it sit there
which is really pretty and so easy to do
I’m like oh wow
so if you have that that may be something
that you may be interested in doing
or creating unique wall art
and I’ll leave this link in the show notes

I’m just gonna go through a couple of ideas with you
but feel free
if you have doilies that you can work with
these are some things that you can do it
and I actually have seen you know
maybe you have these doilies
and maybe you’ve dyed them different colors
maybe you have a blue one or you have a green one
or something like that
and then they’ve kind of stiffened these as well
and then they hung up as wall art
which you can totally use for an entryway
maybe in the kitchen or something like that
that’s perfectly fine you can use that
especially when they’re so decorative
and just so unique and different
not the same old same old
maybe canvas wall art that you’re kind of like ugh
I’m over that you know
but this is something unique
that can just show off a space
maybe a sofa table
something like that or
you know just something that you can use
to help stage your house I’ve even seen them as pillows
uh I wouldn’t recommend it as a lampshade
but even as a oh dreamcatcher
okay that’s a great idea
oh yeah
here’s the pillows like oh
these are so pretty if you are a crafty kind of person
and using them on pillows
just a texture something different
right so lace
yeah I would say
thumbs up you could probably use this as a trend
but minimally like
I wouldn’t have everything
like the lace curtains I wouldn’t do that
um lace everywhere
in every single room the dining room
just draped everywhere
it would should be minimal type pieces
okay so you can pair this lace with the blue okay
that icy blue that we covered right
as a trend so
perfectly fine
to kind of use around the house sparingly
okay
that and now the last trend that I wanna share with you
cause a lot of these are trends
like pen pals and vamp romantic
those are not necessarily home decor
but this afrohemian decor
that got my attention because I was like
I’ve heard of bohemian but afrohemian
okay cool
let’s see what this is so you can
people have done searches on Afro Bohemian home decor
Ethiopian art Rattan accent chair
beaded curtains I’m like
okay well
let’s see we
you know how
what does that entail right
so I did a search for it and this is what I found
so I’ve gotten some this is a great vibe
I love this and I’ll leave the link in the show notes
too so you kind of see all the searches
or do your own searches on Pinterest
perfectly fine um
so this one may be a little too much
when it comes to selling your house
too much artwork like
I would maybe stick with one piece of artwork
that may still too big but I love the greenery
I love the warm wood tones in there
you can use the throw pillows on there
you know kind of
maybe throw the blanket in a corner
you know in a basket
something like that those oranges and those blues
of vibrant nice colors
but don’t go overboard okay
when it comes time to sell your house
maybe just tone down just a little bit
because this can be very um personal
okay and so for some people
this may be something that turns them off
that may not be something that they love
okay so unless you live in Africa
totally different story but if you’re living in the US
this is just maybe just a little too much
but you can totally turn tone it down
like this one is a great
you know wooden credenza
and then you have some beautiful wall art
that you’ve probably used
maybe it’s from a throw blanket or something like that
or some art that somebody decorated right
um I love these Rattan type of um
lamp shades you know
you saw the pendant lights that were blue
the glass blue the Rattan type are perfectly fine
this is a great entryway
with these poofs that are these leather
brown poofs um
you can have a nice you know
African themed kind of like something like that
it’s a mosaic but not
it’s abstract it’s just a little bit
something different in there
and it’s just a small wall
that could be easily taken down by a homeowner
if they don’t like it but it’s something simple
but still kind of gives it just something
a little zhuzh right
you know so yes
so I I love this one
this is just so pretty
the Browns and the greens and the whites
it’s just such warm it just makes you feel
you know comfortable walking into that house
right so take a look
um I’m trying to see what else there was that was great
that was um
Afro Bohemian type you know things
this one maybe a little too much on the walls here
but they’ve got some really retan um
poof type you know
places to sit around um
you don’t have to fill the space
here are some lampshades I was talking about um
but yeah
but this is a great theme also theme
I call it a theme but again
probably tone it down just a little bit
so that it’s not overwhelmingly Afro Bohemian
because you don’t know that the next family
is gonna be the one that
are loving this kind of style
okay so yes
this is a trend this may not last very long
but it gives you some ideas to think about
well okay
this is how you can warm up the space
you’d always want to make sure
that the curtains are always open
that the light is coming in
and these wood tones are fabulous
when it comes to warming up the space
so it doesn’t feel sterile
doesn’t feel plain white doesn’t feel builder grade
you know what I mean
so these are just some things that you can look at
again I’ll leave the link in the show notes

to give you ideas on staging your house OK
alright so
those are just a few of the trends
that I found on Pinterest
that might help you
may not help you sell your house faster
if that’s something that you’re already looking at
and you’re thinking about
well if I just update this
then maybe that’ll help
trends are a fad that comes and goes
it can last a couple of weeks
months maybe even a year or two
kind of like the gray thing
that was around for a couple years
now it’s not around as much
and people are kind of you know
not giving that up very well
um but yeah
so these are just some trends for 2026
that I wanted to point out to you
well some of them may be great
for when you’re moving into your next house
which is what I would recommend
if that’s something you want to do great
but when it comes time to selling your house
and preparing it to sell this is
some of them work some of them do not
so definitely take a look at that
and
