Living Room Home Staging Before and After

if your living room feels outdated
cluttered
or maybe just doesn’t have that spark anymore
you’re not alone as we get older
our homes tend to collect memories
and sometimes
that makes the space feel smaller and less inviting
but what if I told you that
if you made a few simple changes
you can completely transform your living room
without spending a lot of money or a full renovation
in this video I’m gonna show you several living room
home staging transformations
with before and after pictures
so that you can see the changes that I made
when I hate help home sellers like yourselves
with these home staging tips

hello and welcome back my name is Kasha
thank you so much for joining me in this episode
where we talk about living room
home staging transformations
and like I said a lot of these changes are simple
things that you can probably take care of yourself
or maybe have a a helper
a big strong helper move some things around
but these are some of the transformations
that I want to share with you
in these before and after pictures
because they can make a difference really
by just by taking things out
changing things around
it can make the room feel so much more inviting
and inspiring and just make it go wow
this is a really nice and inviting living room
so if you’re kind of stuck in the well
I left the furniture like this
because that’s where the movers put it
or where I thought it should go
let’s take a look at some of these transformations
so that maybe some of these will inspire you
to help you stage your living room
and get your house ready to sell
okay so let’s start with this living room
now as you can tell
there’s a lot of furniture in this room
and that’s where
some of the clutter comes to mind here
and this is part of what we did
when it came time to stage this room
so I did a home staging consultation with a client
for her whole house and
this is what we worked with
when we were in the living room
so there’s a lot of things to take out
there’s a lot of chairs here
there’s another extra sofa
there’s this table in front of the TV
there’s this bed over here
there’s just a lot of stuff going on in here OK
so for the first part
this is where we start taking things out OK
and so let me show you what we ended up doing
in this after picture
okay so as you can see
this room has gotten a whole lot brighter
we definitely opened up the the curtains in here
we took out the extra furniture
we added some color we threw in some red in here
we took out some of the pictures
and I’ll show you another angle of this
room here in just a second
so you can
kind of
take a look and see what else we did with this room
okay so this is not the greatest picture
obviously I didn’t have a great flash
but as you can see
there’s so much less stuff here in front of the TV
we taken out that extra couch
we’ve moved things kind of closer
kind of group things together
and then took out the excess
items that really didn’t need to be in there
in the living room okay
so let me show you the before and after together
okay so as you can see
the top right is the one that was the before
the bottom sorry
the top left and then the bottom right is the after
so there’s less stuff in there
we added some throw pillows
made it everything kind of closer together
group things together in this living room
and now this is a nice spacious living room
alright
moving on to this living room is in a smaller one
and there’s this big chair
or love seat that’s blocking the fireplace
and it’s really not ideal
and you see there’s a treadmill in here
which I’ve talked about before
that
I really don’t recommend having that kind of stuff
when you’re staging your house to sell okay
let me show you another angle
so here’s from the other side it’s clean
everything has been you know
taken out and everything
but now it looks there’s too much furniture still
there’s too many things in here
like I said the treadmill and the extra couch
so we’re gonna remove that
put it in a different room and use it elsewhere
okay
so this is the after now look how more spacious this is
there’s just the couch and a love seat
there’s a nice decorative item on the coffee table
there’s nice color in on the throw pillows
we added a few things around the fireplace
and now this is a nice warm and welcoming living room
okay so this is the before and after
so the top left is the before
with extra furniture blocking that fireplace
and then the after is on the bottom right
it’s not blocked anymore it looks open
you can see the fireplace
and you can imagine yourselves
living in this living room
let me jump in here real quick
because some of you may be looking at these
before and after pictures going gosh
these are great
but I really want to know the in between steps
what do we how do we get there
I love the before and after but how did you get to that
and I’ve got you covered
because I have something new that I’m starting

okay moving on to this living room now as you can see
it’s a very big open concept one
so we have a living room
a dining room opens up to the kitchen
but we’ve got a lot of things going on here
they just had a baby they have a a dog kennel
you see that in the back right corner
there’s just a lot of little pieces here and there
that don’t belong in the living room
when it comes time to staging it
so what the homeowners really want to do
because they’re part they’re military
they needed to move out quickly
and so we had to get some rental furniture brought in
um to stage the space
which is something I’ve done before in the past
but I no longer do
but this is something that gives you an
idea of what it can look like
when you stage it
using either your furniture or rental furniture
okay so
we brought in this blue set of a couch and a love seat
they match they don’t have to
and they really don’t
but this is what we use to show off the space
in the living room as you can see
there’s a nice coffee table
there’s a side table
we bought in a dinette set in the eat in kitchen area
hung up some artwork
put a nice chair in the back right corner
where that dog kennel used to be
made it like a little reading nook
but this is something that you can do to
stage your living room
by arranging the furniture and minimizing the clutter
and taking things out
so here they are again side by side
top left corner is the before picture
this is the after I wish I had a rug to put in
but I didn’t for the after picture
that would have warmed up the space a little bit more
but then
you can see those gorgeous floors that are in there
right so show off the space
show off the room and this is how you can do it
by rearranging just the furniture
and taking out the clutter
okay so moving on to this living room
this one had really dark furniture
and it just felt dark in there
and so what we ended up doing
instead of kind of rearranging it
I brought in a lighter colored piece of furniture
um in the couch basically and kind of rearrange things
you can see all the cords in there
there’s just a lot of things
extra clutter that didn’t need to be in there
when you’re staging your living room
and this is what we ended up doing
as you can see the lighter colored couch
just made the room feel lighter and brighter
we angled it towards the fireplace
and we used those beautiful
green chairs that they had in there
and made that a nice little area
so you can enjoy the fireplace and enjoy the TV
but still
give you lots of space to move around in that room
in that open concept right next to the kitchen
okay here are the before and after
top left is the before
where it just seems so dark and so full
and just overstuffed with things
and then the bottom right is where we
made it more calming more brighter
more open and inviting and that’s what you want to do
when you’re selling your house
okay
moving on to this well loved and well used living room
um there obviously have kids
and there’s just a lot of clutter
a lot of things that we just needed to remove
when it came time to show off the space
now as you can tell
this house was definitely higher end
you can see the blinds on the right on the windows
the built in cabinets so
you want to show off the space as a living
sitting area for this home okay
so let me show you the before after
so we still use the same couch
we added some more colors and throw pillows on there
we put a painting on the wall
we added these chairs that came in
they were in a different room and this coffee table
I think we had to borrow it from a friend or something
or the realtor brought in
but basically
it just shows off the space as a nice sitting area
living area reading books
whatever it may be
but this is so much nicer and usable and more
less cluttered than the previous picture
okay here it is again
before and afters yeah
it was a huge transformation
I was so proud of this homeowner
for all the work that she did
cause she had I wanna say like 5 or six kids
she had a lot of them
so they helped her out as well too
to put away everything arrange everything
just guided her through what needed to stay
and what could go um
to help her stage this living room
okay so hopefully
these living room arrangements
and staging transformations
has given you some inspiration to
get your living room ready
and get your house ready to sell
